Recycle with Hatsune Miku

Hatsune Miku Tansu Keitai Atsumetai

METI (the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry of Japan) has introduced a special music video with Hatsune Miku, promoting recycling of old, used cellphones. It’s a part of “Tansu Keitai Atsumetai” campaign that should persuade people to hand over old cellphones which nobody uses anymore.

METI cooperated with Crypton Future Media, the creators of Vocaloid, both on the song and illustrations. 8 winners were selected from an illustration contest and their work was used for the recycling promotional video.

It may be a good way to increase recycling of old cellphones, I think. At least, it’s likely to work for a certain type of people. But judging from the cuteness of the used artworks, it might have an effect even outside Vocaloid fans.
