This time, we will have a look at Kyuu Iwasaki-tei Teien in Ueno, Tokyo, which has been used as a model for the chapel on Rokkenjima in the visual novel Umineko no Naku Koro ni. Iwasaki family, the founders of Mitsubishi, had it built in 1896. After WWII, Iwasaki-tei Teien became the property of the Japanese government. Tokyo Metropolitan Government took over the responsibility for the management of the building and the grounds in 2001 and opened it to public. Iwasaki-tei Teien is open from 9 AM to 5 PM, except holidays, and the entrance fee is 400 yen.

Kyuu Iwasaki-tei Teien is located only a few hundred meters away from the Ueno Park. It’s a few minute walk from Ueno Station and you just can’t miss it.
