Ootsubo Yuka is best known as the seiyuu of the cheerful and vigorous high school student Toshinou Kyouko from Yuru Yuri. Yuka herself seems to have been attending Clark Memorial International High School Akihabara IT Branch until a few days ago when she graduated. It seems to be a bit special high school thanks to its specializations, but obviously not as much as the famous Horikoshi High School, which Mizuki Nana and many other well-known people have graduated from. The Akihabara IT branch offers an IT Creator Course, Comics Creator Course, Seiyuu & Broadcast Creator Course, Robotics Course, and a special course for students who may feel insecure in public and need special care and exemptions.
Yuka was, of course, in the Seiyuu Course and she has been rewarded for her achievements with a Prize of the Principal Miura for Climbing the Everest (sorry for the lousy translation, I couldn’t come up with anything good). According to the original article posted on the school website, the main concept of this prize is “dreams, challenges, and achievements”. Only one person a year from all of the school branches can be awarded and there are also years when nobody receives the prize. That means that the competition is tough and getting the prize is a big achievement too.
